Dane Hardin, Senior Marine Biologist, Princpal
Mr.
Hardin has over 20 years experience in the study of aquatic
ecology. He specializes in the application of statistically sound
sampling and analytical methods to the study of natural variations
and anthropogenic influences on marine benthic communities. His
work includes serving as Program Manager and Principal Investigator
on several studies funded by the US Department of the Interior investigating
natural and human-induced variation in intertidal and subtidal communities
in the Pacific Outer Continental Shelf and Gulf of Mexico regions.
He has also participated in nine studies of municipal wastewater
discharges across the country, including work on the large consolidated
discharge in Massachusetts Bay for the Massachusetts Water Resources
Authority.
Mr. Hardin supervised the first commercial application
of periphyton communities and transplanted bivalves
to measure water quality in central California. He
performed several studies for industry which examined
the chemical and biological effects of drilling-mud
discharges from petroleum platforms. He was Chief
Scientist on a study for Exxon examining the geological
and biological characteristics of the Boulder Patch
in the Beaufort Sea, and he coordinated intertidal
studies in British Columbia from Kitimat seaward to
the Queen Charlotte Islands. He is currently providing
permitting assistance for the first petroleum drilling
program in the Caspian Sea.
