Environmental Program Management
Applied Marine Sciences, Inc. (AMS) and its professional
staff frequently provide project management services for governmental
and industrial clients in addition to field sampling and analytical
services. AMS personnel deliver the highest quality environmental
program management to its client through a unique blend of scientific,
administrative, and interpersonal skills. Our management strategy
utilizes a comprehensive understanding and knowledge of local, state,
federal and international regulations, familiarity with and access
to current research activities relative to the geographic area or
scientific field of interest, and careful consideration of current
political realities in the system under study.
Many of today’s complex environmental issues quickly polarize
involved parties. These stakeholders frequently include the industrial
operator or governmental agency requiring support, but also involve
other regulatory agencies, scientific community, Non-Governmental
Organizations (NGO’s) and the public. AMS staff frequently
manage programs that require interaction with multiple stakeholders,
and often organize and facilitate workshops to bring into focus
the technical and scientific issues that must be resolved to achieve
progress.
AMS’s professional staff of marine biologists, toxicologist,
oceanographers and aquatic scientists have been involved in developing
and managing many different types of projects including Environmental
Impact Studies for US and international development projects, Natural
Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) studies, habitat impact and restoration
projects, and habitat resource evaluations. AMS principals have
served as the scientific managers of the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill
restoration program, and the largest estuarine contamination monitoring
program in the United States.
